Pure Batana Oil for Hair Growth - Restores Dry Brittle Hair, 10oz
Our pure Honduran batana oil, crafted using traditional roasting methods, is a thick, brown, smoky paste known for helping to reduce breakage and revive dry, dull, brittle hair. This ancestral oil has been used for generations to keep hair strong, luminous, and resilient. Use it as a pre-poo, hot oil treatment, deep conditioning mask, or scalp conditioner. With continued use, expect softer, healthier-looking hair—and with a full 10 oz jar, you’ll have more than enough for weeks of consistent treatments.
Who needs this the most?
Batana oil works best for hair that’s dry, brittle, or chemically stressed because it helps hair feel softer and more elastic. It can also be used on dry or flaky scalps, where its fatty acids and vitamin E content help condition the scalp when used consistently. Those with fine, thin or oily hair should probably skip this oil in it's raw form.We do not recommend leaving Batana Oil on hair or scalp in it's raw form. Unfractionated Batana oil is very heavy and can contribute to buildup if not washed out properly.
Breakage Control
Batana oil isn’t clinically proven to grow hair from the follicle in the same way rosemary oil has been proven to. What it CAN do is help improve strength and elasticity, which means less breakage—and when hair breaks less, you retain more length. That’s real-life “growth support.”Deep Conditioning That Actually Lasts
The richness allows it to deeply condition dry, brittle hair, helping strands feel softer, smoother, and easier to manage. Instead of sitting on top and evaporating, it coats the hair shaft and helps slow moisture loss—making it especially useful for hair that always feels dry no matter what you use.Scalp Conditioning for a Healthier Foundation
A dry or flaky scalp can make it harder for hair to thrive. Batana oil helps condition the scalp with fatty acids and vitamin E, soothing dryness and irritation when used consistently. A comfortable, nourished scalp creates a better environment for healthy-looking hair growth.Shiny and Frizz-Free
By coating the hair shaft, batana oil smooths rough areas along the strand, which helps reduce frizz and reflect more light. The result is hair that looks shinier and more polished. After the First Use
Expect your hair to feel softer and more flexible. Batana oil gives dry strands instant comfort, making hair easier to comb and manage. When used as a pre-shampoo treatment, you’ll notice hair retains more moisture during washing. Rough, dry ends feel less stiff, split ends look less frizzy, and hair has a noticeable boost in shine after the first use. After Continued Use
With consistent treatments, the biggest change most people notice is less breakage. Hair that stays conditioned stays more elastic, so it snaps less during wash day, detangling, and styling. Over time, hair holds moisture better between washes, looks fuller at the ends, and has more body and resilience overall. The Scent
Batana oil is not a fruity or perfumed oil. Authentic, roasted batana has a smoky, roasted scent—often compared to burnt coffee. This comes from the traditional roasting process that gives it its brown color and thick, paste-like texture. The scent does not linger in the hair after shampooing.Elaeis Oleifera (Batana) Seed Oil.
Batana Oil has been in use by the native Miskito people of Honduras for hundreds of years and they credit the oil with helping them grow their hair long and strong referring to it as the "Miracle Oil". The native American Miskito people call themselves Tawira, meaning "People of beautiful hair".
Pre-Poo (Best for Breakage Control and Moisture Retention)
Why do it: Softens hair before shampoo so detangling is easier and wash day causes less breakage.
Instructions:-
Start on dry hair (or lightly damp hair).
-
Apply a small amount section by section, focusing on ends first, then work up the strand.
-
Finger detangle, then twist/braid sections.
-
Cover with a plastic cap.
-
Leave on 20–45 minutes (or longer if you want).
-
Shampoo as usual (you may need 2 lathers if you applied heavy).
Hot Oil Treatment (Best for Softness + Shine)
Why do it: Helps the oil spread evenly and gives you that “my hair is alive again” softness and shine.
Instructions:
-
Sit the jar in warm water for a few minutes (don’t microwave the jar).
-
Apply warm oil to hair and/or scalp.
-
Cover with a plastic cap.
-
Add gentle heat (hooded dryer/heat cap) for 15–30 minutes.
-
Shampoo and condition.
Deep Treatment Mask (Best for Dry, Brittle Hair)
Why do it: Gives your hair time to drink it in and come out softer and more manageable.
How to use:
-
Apply to hair like a mask: mid-lengths to ends, then whatever is left goes near the roots.
-
Put on a cap.
-
Leave on 30–60 minutes.
-
Shampoo, then follow with conditioner.
Scalp Conditioner (Best for Dry/Flaky Scalp)
Why do it: Conditions a dry scalp so it feels calmer and less tight.
How to use:
-
Part hair in sections.
-
Use a small amount and massage into the scalp.
-
Leave on 15–30 minutes.
-
Shampoo well to avoid buildup.
-
Frequency: 1–2x/week (or as needed).
Seal the Ends (Best for Length Retention)
Why do it: Ends are the oldest part of your hair. Sealing them helps them stay soft so they don’t split and/or break off.
How to use:-
After moisturizing (water-based leave-in or mist), apply a tiny amount to the last 1–2 inches of hair.
-
Focus on the areas that rough up first: ends, crown, perimeter.
Quick Notes (So You Don’t Overdo It)
-
If your hair is fine/low-porosity: use less (or not at all), and keep it mostly on mid-lengths and ends.
-
If your hair feels coated: you used too much—just clarify next wash day and scale back.
-
This is a treatment oil. You don’t need to, nor should you, use it every day.

What is batana oil?
Batana oil is an oil made from the fruit/nut of the American palm. Ours is pure batana oil from Honduras and comes as a thick, brown paste (some people call it batana butter because of the texture). Why does batana oil smell like burnt coffee?
Because of the traditional roasting process. Authentic batana can smell smoky/roasted—like burnt coffee. The scent typically does not stay in the hair after shampooing though. Can I use it as a homemade hair mask for dry hair?
Yes. Treat it like a mask: apply mid-lengths to ends, cap it, leave it on 30–60 minutes, then shampoo. Using it as a hair mask is a great way to improve body and shine. Is batana oil good for dry, brittle hair?
That’s the sweet spot. Batana is a heavier, more coating oil, so it’s great for dry, dull, brittle hair that needs softness, slip, and breakage support.Does batana oil help with hair growth?
Batana oil isn’t a drug and we don’t claim it “grows hair from the follicle,” but it can support your hair growth journey by helping hair stay softer and more elastic so it breaks less (meaning you keep more of what grows). How often should I use batana oil?
Start with 1x per week as a treatment (pre-poo, mask, or hot oil). Daily use is usually too much for most people unless you’re only using a tiny amount on the ends.Is Ojon Oil and “Batanaoil” the same as Batana Oil?
“Batanaoil” is just a common misspelling of batana oil — same thing.Ojon oil and batana oil are related, but they’re not exactly the same. They both come from the same palm nut (Elaeis oleifera), which is why people mix them up. The difference comes down to how ithe two are processed and how it’s marketed: batana oil is typically described as the more traditional, less-refined version (often roasted and thicker), while “ojon oil” became a popular name through commercial branding and is often described as more refined and lighter in texture.
