benefits of batana oil, batana plant, batana oil benefits for skin, batana oil how to use, Batana Oil uses

Batana Oil

Batana Oil is produced from the kernels found inside the fruit of the American palm tree. The fruit if first boiled and then manually pounded to remove the outer shell. The nut found inside is then washed, sun-dried and then cracked to release the kernel inside. The kernels are then cooked to extract the oil. When the hot oil cools down, a brown solid paste forms that has a strong coffee-like odor. Because of the amount of work it takes to produce this oil, it's extremely rare. Our batana oil comes from La Moskitia, Honduras and is of the highest quality, unlike many other diluted versions commonly found on the internet today. Because quality batana oil is hard to find, we currently do not offer plain batana oil (we get asked this at least once a week). At this time, it is only used as an ingredient in our products.

Beeswax

Beeswax (cera alba) is a natural wax produced by honey bees. It's the final remaining product that is harvested. It comes from the honeycomb and honeycomb cappings. Our beeswax comes from southern Ohio. It has a yellow buttery color, which means it is the most natural beeswax. It doesn't go through the refining process that the white colored beeswax goes through to remove the yellow tint caused by pollen. Bee pollen is loaded with a wide variety of antioxidants, which is why we opted to use the creamy yellow colored beeswax over the white refined versions.

benefits of rosemary for skin, for hair, rosemary oil benefits, advantages of rosemary oil,

Rosemary Oil and Rosemary Oleoresin

Both the rosemary essential oil and the oleoresin are made from the same plant, Rosmarinus Officinalis. The essential oil is made by a steam distillation process; the oleoresin is made by soaking the plant material in a solvent. The solvent dissolves the essential oils and other less-volatile chemicals in the plant material. When the solvent is removed, the oleoresin extract is left behind.

We use each for different purposes. The carsonic acid in the oleoresin helps keep our natural oils from turning rancid. The essential oil, on the other hand, is used for its many many hair and skin benefits.

A 2015 study compared Rosemary essential oil against minoxidil (known commercially as Rogaine). Both were used on human subjects with alopecia. (Click here to read about the study.) Results showed that rosemary essential oil was just as effective as minoxidil.
