Moisturizing Hairdress Treatment for Dry, Brittle & Damaged Afro Hair | 8oz
Moisturizing Hairdress is a rich, daily leave-in hair treatment made for dry, brittle, and damaged Afro-textured hair. Blended with aloe vera, marshmallow root, mango butter, and nourishing batana and avocado oils, this creamy moisturizer delivers lasting hydration while softening rough strands, reducing frizz, and making detangling easier. Gentle enough for daily use on both hair and scalp, it helps replenish moisture between wash days, leaving hair softer, more manageable, and healthier-looking without the heavy, greasy feel of traditional hairdress.
WHO NEEDS IT MOST?
If your hair seems to dry out no matter how often you moisturize, you know the struggle. This Moisturizing Hairdress is made for dry, brittle, Afro-textured hair that needs lasting moisture, softness, and a little extra TLC. It helps replenish hydration, smooth rough strands, and make combing easier without leaving hair greasy, sticky, or coated in product. And because healthy-looking hair starts with a well-cared-for scalp, it's made to moisturize both.
KEY BENEFITS
Intense Hydration for Dull, Brittle Hair Floods thirsty strands with rich moisture so hair feels softer, looks healthier, and stays hydrated longer—without that heavy, greasy finish.
Leave-In Conditioner for Dry Hair Helps dry, brittle strands feel nourished and more flexible. Improved softness and elasticity makes hair easier to handle and less prone to breakage from daily styling.
Buttery Slip for Easier Detangling Gives a smooth glide so your comb, fingers, and hands move through textured hair with less tugging—making wash day and day-to-day styling feel way more manageable.
Nourishing Scalp Lotion Made with a Prebiotic Complex to support a comfortable, balanced-feeling scalp and help reduce scalp dryness, flaking, and itch. Healthy-looking hair starts with a cared-for scalp—always.
After the First Use Your hair feels softer immediately—like it finally got the moisture it’s been asking for. You’ll also notice a boost in elasticity (that “stretch” before snap), which means less breakage from everyday handling, detangling, and styling.
After Continued Use With consistent use, dry, dull strands start to look brighter and healthier, and the overall texture feels smoother and more conditioned. Hair becomes noticeably more manageable—easier to detangle, easier to style, and easier to keep moisturized between wash days.
The Scent It smells like elderflower in the spring—a soft, beautiful floral that feels clean and airy, with a subtle nutty warmth underneath. The kind of scent that makes you pause mid-application like… yeah, this is the one.
Aloe Vera Our fractionally distilled aloe vera is a lightweight hydrator that helps quench dry hair and support a comfortable, moisturized scalp. It’s commonly used to soften hair and soothe dry, itchy-feeling scalp.
Yerba Mate Yerba mate is rich in caffeine and antioxidants, which is why it’s increasingly used in hair care to support stronger, longer, healthier-looking hair. It acts as a natural scalp stimulant and in this cream, is used to help energize the scalp,
Sunflower Lecithin Rich in fatty acids, this ingredient helps to deeply moisturize and strengthen dry or damaged hair. Sunflower Lecithin helps to improve manageability, reduce frizz and support healthy, full hair growth and is commonly used in conditioners to boost texture and hydration.
Apricot Oil Apricot oil is a lightweight, conditioning oil that helps soften and add shine without weighing hair down. It’s also commonly used to comfort dry-feeling scalp and help hair look less dull.
Fractionated Batana Oil Batana is loved in textured-hair routines for its rich, conditioning feel—helping dry hair look healthier, feel softer, and appear less frizzy. In its raw form, batana can feel very heavy, so we use a fractionated version for a lighter, more wearable finish that still delivers nourishment and shine.
Cucumber Oil Cucumber seed oil has a lightweight, silky feel and is naturally high in omega-6 linoleic acid and phytosterols, which support moisture retention and a soft, comfortable feel. We added it for the soothing, refreshing feel it gives when applied to dry scalp and dry-feeling hair.
Prebiotic Complex A balanced, healthy scalp is the foundation for strong, resilient hair, which is why we included our chicory-root-based prebiotic complex. It’s designed to support scalp health by feeding beneficial bacteria, supporting the skin barrier, and helping reduce the conditions that contribute to oiliness, flaking, and irritation.
HoneyQuat Honeyquat is a honey-derived conditioning ingredient that binds to hair to improve softness, slip, and shine—making hair easier to detangle and more manageable. It’s known for strong moisture-binding ability and helps leave hair feeling conditioned without a sticky, coated finish.
Sodium PCA Sodium PCA is a powerhouse humectant (water-binding ingredient) and part of the body’s natural moisturizing factors, which makes it excellent for boosting hydration in both hair and scalp formulas. It helps hair feel softer and more flexible—key for brittle strands that tend to snap with handling.
Marshmallow Root Marshmallow root is famous for its natural mucilage, which gives that ultra-slippery glide textured hair loves for detangling and smoothness. It also supports hydration by helping hair hold onto moisture, which can reduce frizz and improve manageability.

DAILY HAIR MOISTURIZER Keep dry, Afro-textured hair feeling soft, hydrated, and manageable between wash days. Apply a small amount to dry or slightly damp hair, working through sections from root to tip. Focus on areas that feel especially dry or rough, adding more only as needed. Use daily or whenever your hair needs a moisture refresh without the greasy buildup.
MOISTURIZING LEAVE-IN HAIR TREATMENT Give freshly washed hair a head start on lasting moisture. After shampooing and conditioning, separate damp hair into sections and apply a small amount from root to tip. Work through gently with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to help loosen tangles and reduce tugging. Leave in without rinsing for softer, smoother, more manageable hair as it dries.
SOOTHING SCALP MOISTURIZER Your scalp needs moisture, too! Part your hair and apply a small amount directly to the scalp, massaging gently with your fingertips. Pay special attention to dry, tight-feeling areas around the hairline, crown, and nape. Use as needed between wash days to help relieve the feeling of dryness and keep your scalp feeling soft, comfortable, and moisturized without a heavy, oily residue.
DRY ENDS & BREAKAGE CARE The ends of Afro-textured hair are often the oldest and most fragile, making them especially vulnerable to dryness, tangling, and breakage. Work a small amount of Hairdress through the last few inches of your hair, smoothing it gently over the ends. Reapply when they begin to feel dry or rough, especially before bed. Keeping ends conditioned and flexible can help reduce friction and breakage, although existing split ends still need to be trimmed.
BLOWOUT HAIR STYLING Get softer, smoother blowouts without sacrificing moisture. After washing and conditioning, apply a small amount of Moisturizing Hairdress to damp, sectioned hair, concentrating on dry areas and ends. Gently detangle with a wide-tooth comb before blow-drying in sections. Its conditioning blend helps soften strands, improve manageability, and reduce the tugging that can lead to breakage, leaving Afro-textured hair looking smoother, shinier, and full of natural body and movement—without a heavy, greasy finish.
For heat styling, always pair with a dedicated heat protectant before blow-drying.
Is Moisturizing Hairdress a hair treatment for damaged hair or a styling cream? Moisture comes first! This daily leave-in hair treatment is designed to soften dry, brittle, and damaged hair while improving manageability and reducing frizz. Unlike styling creams that focus on hold and definition, Moisturizing Hairdress replenishes moisture and conditions strands, leaving hair soft, flexible, and touchable without a stiff or sticky finish.
Is Moisturizing Hairdress good for 4C and Afro-textured hair? Absolutely! Afro-textured hair can be especially prone to dryness because its natural oils have a harder time traveling down tightly coiled strands. Our moisturizing Hairdress combines aloe vera, marshmallow root, mango butter, and nourishing oils to help keep coils hydrated, soften rough strands, and make detangling easier without leaving a heavy, greasy coating.
Can I use Moisturizing Hairdress on my scalp? Yes! Unlike products intended only for the hair strands, Moisturizing Hairdress is formulated for both hair and scalp. Its blend of aloe vera, botanical extracts, and conditioning ingredients helps moisturize dry, tight-feeling areas, leaving your scalp feeling soothed, comfortable, and nourished without the oily residue of traditional hair grease.
Can I use Moisturizing Hairdress as a leave-in conditioner for blow-drying? Yes! Moisturizing Hairdress works beautifully as a conditioning leave-in before blow-drying Afro-textured hair. It helps soften strands, ease detangling, and smooth frizz for blowouts that look shinier and feel softer, with natural body and movement. Apply sparingly to damp hair and follow with a dedicated heat protectant before blow-drying.
Will Moisturizing Hairdress leave buildup or make my hair greasy? Not when applied appropriately for your hair's needs. Although it's rich in moisturizing butters and botanical oils, the creamy formula is designed to condition without the heavy, greasy feel of traditional hairdress products. Start with a small amount and add more only where needed to keep your hair soft, moisturized, and touchable.
How often should I use Moisturizing Hairdress? Use it daily or whenever your hair needs a moisture refresh. Apply a small amount to dry or slightly damp hair between wash days, focusing on areas prone to dryness, especially the ends. It's also an excellent leave-in treatment after shampooing and conditioning to help keep hair softer and more manageable between washes.
Is Moisturizing Hairdress only for Afro-textured hair? Not at all! While it's especially beneficial for dry, coily, kinky, and curly hair, anyone dealing with dry, rough, or brittle strands can enjoy its moisturizing benefits. Those with finer or naturally oily hair may prefer applying a smaller amount to the mid-lengths and ends.

Reviews
The entire line of Princess Mudd has been a good choice for me and my family. I bought most, if not all of the products to try them out. My favorites quickly became the pre-poo Follicle Stimulator and the Nourishing Hair Butter. Let me tell you, that Princess Mudd butter is a must have!!!!!! I started using it on my hair, but quickly saw the benefits to not only my hair, but my hands and cuticles as well.
I cannot tell you how hydrating the products have been. I did not see my hair as dry but I soon found out how thirsty my hair was and what a difference Princess Mudd Products made to my length, strength, and moisture. When I saw that I was running out, I knew I needed to reorder.
My daughter also loves the products as she embarks upon her natural hair journey. Her hair was over processed and short from breakage. Now she has spring and bounce to her wet natural hair and has experienced significant hair growth. The hydrating mist has really shortened her detangle time.
My last favorite is the astringent. I had a serious ingrown hair that was gently removed by using the astringent everyday. I love, love, love the products and highly recommend for all hair types.
My natural hair is 3b- 3c fine strands, curls, and sometimes oily at the scalp and dry at the ends. I do not use the butter on the scalp for a blow out, but can use it when wearing my hair natural.
My daughter hair is 4b-4c kinky/coily, and dry. She loves the pre-poo and the butter, as well as the hydrating mist. She said that her college roommates ask to use her Princess Mudd products constantly.
Im so glad I tried this! Ive tried a lot of curly hair products, and wasted some money in the process, but this is a keeper. This product is pretty fantastic, but the Princess Mudd Rose Mist Spray is probably my very most favorite hair product, great for refreshing my curls. I seem to be allergic to a lot of stuff but its all smooth sailing with Princess Mudd products. I became aware of Princess Mudd by reading a best products list. Of all the products listed (there are a number of categories), the ingredient list for Princess Mudd was what compelled me to give it a try. So glad I did! I use this as the Cream in the L.O.C. (Leave-in, Oil, Cream) method.
I use their Restorative Styling Cream & Herbal Hair Growth Oil together for my naturally curly hair and I love it so much! Only thing that actually keeps my hair hydrated and doesnt dry it out after a day! And it smells soooo good. Highly recommend especially for the curly haired queens&kings ??
It's like an updated version of what used to be called "hair dressing" but it's more creamy and less oily. It reminds me of a juicier, way more organic/luscious version of Vitapointe.
My hair is 3c, always curly, never straight, never. I tried this a bit on wet hair as the Oil in LOC and also as a refresher ... I just can't get it right. ??
What I am using it for (this is my second jar) is to mix it with batana oil when I put it in the night before wash days. So, I just use it to mix in with and cut the smell of the straight batana because batana oil alone has such a weird smell, way beyond "Honey, not tonight" & into "Honey, I thought you could sleep with the dog at your mom's house."
This product has batana in it already and it smells yummy, so I figured the balance of other fragrances could push back a little and I was right, I'm pleased.
I can see this being great for people with thicker hair that soaks up moisture and oils well. My hair is curly but fine. This product goes in nicely to my hair and curld it nice, but once it settles in my hair and drys, my hair feels rough and tangled almost feeling dry yet dramatically weighed down and givess an oiler look. My hair is porous genetically, and needs something that gives slip and shine rather than heavy moisture. The smell of this cream is very herbal like nettle more than anything which is questionable how fresh the scent will be after a few days between shampoos
